Highfield Eco Allotment Project
https://www.facebook.com/theHeapmanchester
This is better known as the HEAP and The Growing Together Project, which are both based on the one plot. Their aim is to create a sustainable community allotment where people of different ages and backgrounds can come together to share skills and experience of food growing. They are a vegan permaculture food‐growing project, have a forest garden space and promote biodiversity. They run workshops on different aspects of food‐growing and sustainability which are occasionally open to other plot holders. They also want to grow tasty local organic food!
The Growing Together Project
This is a therapeutic horticulture project run on Tuesdays for asylum seekers and refugees at the HEAP. You can read more about this project on the Growing Together page of their website.
The School Plot
This was established in 2000 by Simon Read. The Plot is used to support his current work in education, working with therapeutic intervention teams, helping vulnerable young people to improve their emotional well‐being and achieve success within mainstream schools.
